Breakdown
Etienne has put up some monster numbers in his career, it makes it hard for me to put him as my 3rd running back this year. Most people will have him at number one, but I don’t consider him a complete player at RB. It doesn’t seem to be his natural position, often shying from contact. He is not able to run between the tackles effectively as he lacks power and size. Too often will he get tackled by the first defender or by a shoe string tackle. I wouldn’t trust him in pass protection, but he is better as a receiver anyways. He is a threat to take it to the house on any down, all he needs is a sliver of space. Doesn’t have many juke moves to make people miss, but will flash through a seam. Has good balance after contact, and explosive to get back up to speed.
Etienne’s big play potential makes him a dangerous addition to any team. Particularly to a team that may already have some pieces in place so that Etienne doesn’t have to be the bell cow running back. His threat as a receiver might add additional value, especially in todays pass happy NFL.
