AUCTION

  • AUCTION draft 
  • 600$ Salary Cap
  • Sets the salary for each player
  • A choice between 1 – 5 year contract 

CONTRACTS

Annual Salary Increase

  • 1 Year   12% 
  • 2 Years 10%
  • 3 Years 8%
  • 4 Years 6% 
  • 5 Years 5%

*Always rounded to nearest $*

Minimum increase of 1$ each season

 

Example:

Dalvin Cook is auctioned for $100 and signed to a 3 Year Contract

  • Year 1 – $100
  • Year 2 – $108 
  • Year 3 – $117
  • Year 4 – Free Agent – Option to match max bid on open market 
  • 1-5 Year Contract at new price

Players signed during the regular season are on 1 Year contracts – FULLY GUARANTEED

 

Season roll over – Contracts will carry over before Free Agency Auction(Mid March). Any traded or cut players before that day will reflect on the current seasons cap penalties.

FREE AGENT PERIOD

Following the 1st year – ALL expiring contracted players will enter Free Agency

 

Budget = Remaining Cap Space after salaries are added up -Cap penalties

 

  • Auction on CouchManagers website
  • Each player on a current roster that has an expiring contract
  • Highest bid
  • Contract length 1-5 years

Works just like the original start up auction

$500 spent on player contracts after Resigning and Draft period with $600 Cap

Contracts are set on draft position

  • PICK 1.01 – 1.03     $45
  • PICK 1.04 – 1.06     $40
  • PICK 1.07 – 1.09     $35
  • PICK 1.10 – 1.12     $30
  • PICK 2.01 – 2.04     $25
  • PICK 2.05 – 2.08     $20
  • PICK 2.09 – 2.12     $15
  • PICK 3.01 – 3.06     $10
  • PICK 3.07 – 3.12     $5
  • PICK 4.01 – 4.12      $2
  • PICK 5.01 – 5.12      $1

A new Collective Bargaining Agreement will be negotiated once the cap becomes larger 

 

This will adjust with league inflation 

ROOKIE CONTRACTS

  • ALL ROUND 1 draft picks have a 5th year option
  • ALL Draft picks have 4 year Contracts @ 10% annuals
  • Undrafted Rookie Free Agents are signed to 1 year contracts – Enter FA the following year – Option to match

Example 1:

Drafted Trevor Lawrence @1.01

  • Year 1 – $45
  • Year 2 – $50
  • Year 3 – $55
  • Year 4 – $61
  • Year 5 – $67 – Option Year 
  • Year 6 – FA – Option to Match

Option year must be offered before Free Agency Auction in March (League Roll Over)

Drafted Michael Carter @ 2.04

  • Year 1 – $25
  • Year 2 – $28
  • Year 3 – $31
  • Year 4 – $34
  • Year 5 – FA – Option to Match

ROOKIE FREE AGENTS

After a rookie has completed their first contract – they enter the free agent pool

Each owner will have a chance to make a bid 

The original owner that drafted the player will have a chance match the offer +1$ – and choose the contract length

 

Example:

  • Trevor Lawrence enters free agency after his 5th year
  • The top bid in Free Agency for Lawrence is $130
  • Original owner that drafted Lawrence has a chance to match the bid for $131 and choose a contract length
  • OR let him go to the top bidder

CAP SPACE

SALARY CAP

League starts with a $600 Salary Cap @ Auction

  • Carries over each year minus player salaries
  • Increase by 6% each year

League Salary Cap

  • Year 1 – $600
  • Year 2 – $636
  • Year 3 – $674
  • Year 4 – $714

CAP PENALTIES

The current years salary is fully guaranteed 

 

Penalty towards next years cap is pending on years left on contract:

  • 1 Years – 20%
  • 2 Years – 40% 
  • 3 Years – 60%
  • 4 Years – 80%
  • 5 Years – 100%

FA picked up during the year are 1 year fully guaranteed

 

Example:

Dalvin Cook gets released

  • 3 Years left on contract @ $100
  • No refund of current year salary
  • Following year you will receive a $60 cap hit(20% x 3years left on contract)

What was originally a $300 contract = turned out to be $160 paid out

Big rosters are designed to avoid a surplus of in season transactions

TRADES

Teams can trade players with no Cap Penalties

 

Each team takes over traded players contracts

 

Can offer $ in trade – but only enough to cover current years salary of traded player

 

Example: 

Carson Wentz(33$) is traded for a 2nd round pick – the owner receiving Wentz may get up to $33 from the other owner to cover his salary costs for that year

 

This will allow teams to get out of cap troubles if mismanaged – and reward players with good cap management

 

Commissioner approved – To adjust the cap space

 

1 hour grace period to reverse trade if an owner accidently accepts a trade
