Breakdown
Carlos Basham can utilize the swim move at an elite level consistently getting off blocks at an alarming rate. He has long arms and active hands at the point of contact not allowing linemen to engage. He has all of the pass rush moves in the bag of tricks – swim, rip, push-pull and has a rare ability to bend around the edge making him hard for linemen to wash him past the QB. Basham struggles to split double teams which he saw a lot more of this year. He can use his strength and size to push blockers into the designed gap, disrupting run plays. Although at times he can over pursue and create lanes on stretch runs. Overall, he possesses great or above average ability in almost every category – including speed
Carlos Basham is best suited edge rushing in a 4-3 at either the left or right end, especially in a scheme that always him to be in 1 on 1 situation by bringing an extra blitzer. He has prototype size combined with some elite technique and pass rush ability – which merits a top 15 pick in todays NFL.
