Breakdown

Quincy Roche is an undersized 3-4 outside linebacker that makes up for his lack of size with quickness, strong pass rush moves and a high motor. Great burst coming off the edge that sets up multiple pass rush moves; he can dip around the edge with speed, swim or spin inside, or even translate his speed/leverage into power for a bull rush. He uses his hands well to keep linemen’s hands off him, and is quick enough to beat the block in the run game. But he will struggle taking on blocks and setting the edge, moving him and creating running lanes. He has troubles taking on double teams(TE and OT) getting sealed inside. If he doesn’t win immediately, chances are that he will be out of the play, although he will take a good pursuit angle. He can drop in pass coverage and get to the flats quickly. At the senior bowl Roche helped raise his stock, winning routinely in 1 on 1’s and showed his great motor – always running at full speed.

Roche translate exclusively into a 3 – 4 outside LB, too small to play in a 4-3 as a DE. Encouraged to be going upfield and getting TFL’s opposed to holding a gap responsibility. He will make some TFL’s but also give up some running lanes but in pass rushing he has the skill set to be double digit sack player – and should be a 2nd round draft choice.
