WEAKNESSES

-Not a big downfield threat

-Average size

-Limited potential?

SIZE 79%

OKAY – He is listed at about 6’ft and 188lbs if he is any smaller than that it might be concerning as a top 15 pick.

SPEED 92%

ELITE – Good burst and solid downfield speed – deceptively fast. Ran in the 4.30 and looks close to that on film.

YAC 88%

GOOD – impressive agility/change of direction. Can stop and start on a dime – will occasionally make big gains cutting back against the pursuit and make defenders look silly.

ROUTE RUNNING 92%

ELITE – This is where his burst and change of direction really comes in handy. Elite route runner is how WILSON gets all his open look in short spaces. In addition he understands the nuances of the position – waiting for the perfect moment, when a defenders makes a false step or opens up the wrong way before making his cut.

HANDS 89%

GOOD– Near elite hands, has great body manipulation to adjust to the ball mid air. Will lay out and dive for anything in the area. Natural hands catcher that can high point the ball. Rarely drops the ball – He just doesn’t really have the frame to go over the middle or out muscle bigger defenders.

BREAK DOWN

Earned a big role as a freshman on a team that has uber talent at WR – if that doesn’t give enough praise i’m not sure what will. GARRETT WILSON has consistently improved every year, accumulating into a solid junior year with over 1000 yards and over 10 TD’s. He has all the receiving tools that you could want from a WR – hands/route running/YAC/IQ – only real problem is he is not a big guy combined with non elite speed. But the direction that the NFL is moving, being on the smaller side is not too big of a deal.

GARRETT WILSON can play outside or in the slot – the latter might be where he excels more early in the NFL. A good coordinator will be able to find mismatches and hide him in multiple formations. He reminds me in a way of formor Buckeye Terry Mclaurin – whom is a similar size and gets open in a way that is not flashy or obvious. Plain and simple they are just good football players.
